North Korea conducted a new missile test Thursday and sent its fighter planes to fly near the border with South Korea, at a time when North Korean leader Kim Jong Un considered the long-range strategic missile test a clear warning to those he described as enemies.

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed the launch of a short-range ballistic missile by North Korean forces, while the Japanese Ministry of Defense reported the launch of two ballistic missiles that fell outside the Japanese economic zone.

This development comes a day after North Korea launched a long-range strategic cruise missile, in a test supervised by President Kim Jong Un, and is the latest in a series of missile tests through which Pyongyang aims to demonstrate its tactical nuclear capabilities.

The North Korean news agency quoted Kim today as saying that the successful test of the missiles yesterday was "a clear and explicit warning to our enemies."

Recently, the pace of northern missile tests has accelerated, leading the United States and its Southeast Asian allies to believe that Pyongyang may conduct a new nuclear test.

On the other hand, the United States and South Korea recently carried out joint exercises during which missiles were launched and training to hit targets at sea.

In another incident that would increase the level of tension between the two neighbors, the South Korean army confirmed that 10 North Korean warplanes flew today, 25 kilometers from the common border, stressing that it responded by sending planes, some of them F-35 fighters. ).

countermeasures

On the other hand, the North Korean military said it had taken what it described as "strong military countermeasures" in response to what it said were artillery fire exercises by South Korean forces for 10 hours near the border.

The North Korean military described the exercises as a provocative behavior of the South Korean army in the front-line area, according to the official news agency in Pyongyang.

It is noteworthy that the North Korean forces denied, from September 25 to October 9, conducting military exercises that included ballistic missiles and long-range artillery.
