It is reported by RIA Novosti.

The resolution was previously prepared by Western countries.

The document does not recognize referendums and calls on countries, international organizations and UN specialized structures not to recognize changes in the status of the republics of Donbass and Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

The document also calls on Russia to “withdraw its forces from Ukraine.”

143 countries voted in favor of the resolution, five voted against, 35 countries abstained.

Russia, Belarus, Syria, North Korea and Nicaragua voted against.

The agency's source noted that the United States, together with partners, "actively persuaded countries" to support the Western draft resolution.

As Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya stated, UN General Assembly Chairman Chaba Kyoryoshi decided not to choose a secret voting format, "played for the authors of the resolution" and "did everything to manipulate the procedure of the General Assembly."

China said that the draft resolution does not meet the goals of de-escalating the situation and resuming dialogue.

On October 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed federal laws on the admission of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into Russia.
