The German president is under fire for appearing without a mask on a train

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has been criticized for a photo that showed him without a mask on a Deutsche Bahn train.

A video clip from inside the train also showed the German president without a mask, explaining his plans to visit the city of Neuchterlitz.

In the wake of that, tweets on Twitter indicated that wearing a muzzle is mandatory on trains, and it is still in force.

One user wrote in a comment: "It's over, thanks for the official cancellation of the mandatory wearing of the muzzle by Mr. Steinmeier."

For her part, the president's spokeswoman, Zerstein Jamelin, explained that Steinmeier was wearing a "FFP-2" mask inside the local express, and said that he "removed the mask to make a video statement, and he was asked to remove the muzzle for a moment in order to take a picture." Then he came back and put on a mask.
