A session entitled “When will we move to another planet similar to Earth?”, within the activities of the second day of the “Dubai Future Forum”, discussed the importance of all countries participating in the field of research and exploration in the space sector, and the cost of moving in space.

The session was attended by Salem Al-Marri, Director General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, writer Dr. Nendy Okorafor in "African Future Production", Dr. Xuanfei Dong, scientist from Princeton University, and Professor of Physics at the American University of Sharjah, Dr. Nidal Qasoum. The participants discussed future opportunities to improve The temperature of the planets and celestial bodies to make them habitable by humans, whether on Mars, the Moon or even Earth.

Salem Al-Marri stressed the importance of all countries participating in the field of research and exploration in the space sector, pointing to the support given by the UAE to support space science and technology and promote innovation.

In turn, Dr. Nende Okorafor called for learning from past mistakes, so as not to repeat the same problems, and said: “Bioreclamation is a hypothetical process of modifying the atmosphere, temperature, surface topography or environment of a planet, moon or any other object to become similar to the environment of the Earth, to make it habitable for humans.

And I think the way science fiction deals with future themes, from technology to society to political issues, is not right most of the time.”

For his part, Dr. Nidal Qassoum stated that many people had previously doubted the possibility of exploring space and the moon, going to Mars, or bioreclamation, and criticized the expenditures, energies and resources spent in this field, but the results were opposite, and reality proved the opposite. Today the world is living in tremendous technological developments, originating from the space sector, and there is more to come in the near future.

He stressed that bioreclamation is extremely important for the world, today, tomorrow and in the near future, noting that the cost of moving in space, the ease of movement in it, or building a space station in it has become less than people imagine.

Dr. Xuanfei Dong showed pictures of Mars and the Moon, and the presentation included information from NASA about the possibility of living on the surface of the Moon or Mars in the future.
