The man who on Saturday night hit and killed two tourists aged 24 and 25, Wibe Bijls and Jessy Dewildeman, citizens of Belgium, on the A24 link road in Rome, was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The man is now in custody, accused of multiple road murder.

Regarding the case, today 'Il Messaggero', referring to the testimony of some friends, reported that one of the two girls, Wibe Bijls, was pregnant.

The two girls were on the street after intervening to help after a car accident that left two seriously injured.

They had recently arrived in Rome and are now on board a rental car.

After running over the two in their twenties, the man abandoned his car on the side of the road before fleeing into the dark on foot in the countryside.

On Sunday afternoon, however, he was identified by the police and taken to the offices to be heard.

For him, the investigators could therefore also challenge the crime of wrongful death, precisely because it did not stop after the dramatic impact.

The suspect also has a criminal record.
