It is not comparable to the golden era of the 60s and 70s but the highest measured numbers since 1991.

New generation

There's no mistaking the format's commercial popularity, with even major grocery stores selling vinyl.

Interest in the black plastic has also declined in the ages where the new – and younger generation who are used to having their music a few clicks away – realized the value of listening analog.

Kenth Eriksson, at Skivbörsen in Västerås, says that many teenagers come to him.

- I think the new generation feels that they want to hold something in their hands, quite simply, he says.

Finding the black gold

Not infrequently, record companies jack up the prices of vinyls by pressing limited or exclusive editions which are then released to a hungry market.

Finding that real musical nugget can therefore be difficult.
