About books:

Only a little more than a week until the Frankfurt Book Fair 2022. So-called new right publishers will again take part, so it is not unlikely that there will be discussions about this, as in previous years.

The aim is to avoid the dispute escalating like it did last year, when it led to a call for a boycott.

In recent years, the trade fair organizers have defended themselves against the accusations that they are not doing enough to prevent the presence of new right-wing publishers, saying that anyone who advocates freedom of expression simply cannot allow opinions that do not suit them.

In 2021, the information was added that the book show as a business fair for German publishers held a monopoly position from which they could not exclude individual market participants without making themselves legally vulnerable.

Florian Balke reports how the book fair wants to avoid trouble this year, one key word here is domiciliary rights.

About candidates

A new state parliament will be elected in Hesse in autumn 2023.

The official election campaign is far from beginning, the preparations for it have been underway for a long time.

In the constituencies, for example, where the parties have to decide on their candidates.

At the weekend, the CDU did so in the Hochtaunus II constituency. Result: She is running there with 28-year-old Sebastian Sommer, chairman of the Junge Union Hessen.

The 53-year-old headmaster Leonie Fuhrmann lost in the vote of the 80 delegates.

Jürgen Banzer still holds the direct mandate for which Sommer can now apply.

Florentine Fritzen reports on the vote.

About obligations:

More and more goods are being bought online, including electronic devices.

Searched the Internet, landed on a homepage, ordered and selected a refrigerator: not very difficult.

Sometimes what used to be a simple purchase ends with the difficult question of who will dispose of the old device.

Small retailers in particular sometimes don't offer this of their own accord, but since this summer they have to.

Petra Kirchhoff reports on these and other regulations in connection with old devices and on what customers should know and what they can expect.

And in addition

, thousands of people in Kassel

celebrated Japanese pop culture in colorful costumes at the Connichi manga fair at the weekend

Alternatively, passengers traveling in the direction of Höchst Zuckschwerdtstrasse or Gallus Mönchhofstrasse can use the nearby Ostbahnhof/Honsellstrasse stop.
