The General Department of Traffic in Dubai Police recorded 14,084 violations of not leaving enough distance between vehicles during the first half of this year.

The Deputy Director of the General Department of Traffic in Dubai Police, Brigadier Juma bin Suwaidan, told "Emirates Today" that Dubai Police managed to reduce accident rates over recent years, by analyzing their causes, intensifying traffic awareness, and disseminating advanced control techniques, as well as cadres. He pointed out that this behavior usually occurs in two cases, the first during crowding. The total number of deaths resulting from the violation of not leaving enough distance in the Emirate of Dubai reached 24 deaths during the past year, in addition to 405 injuries that ranged from 32 severe, 176 moderate and 199 minor, while this violation caused 553 accidents throughout the year.

Bin Suwaidan stressed that there is a tangible increase in awareness among community members in Dubai, and in response to awareness campaigns carried out by the police with its strategic partners, but there is a need for caution and to avoid such unsafe behaviors.

Adhere to a safe distance
