Soon on a visit to Algeria, Elisabeth Borne and her delegation want to give new impetus to Franco-Algerian relations.

On the program for this trip, many key topics, official and unofficial, for a long partnership between the two countries.

The Prime Minister is expected in Algeria for two days at the head of a delegation comprising no less than sixteen ministers and several business leaders.

The purpose of this trip is to show concrete translations after the Algiers Declaration for a renewed partnership, signed a little over a month ago during Emmanuel Macron's visit to the country.

Many topics on the agenda

After the good intentions displayed at the end of August, Matignon ensures that this trip must give the relationship a new impetus, looking to the future and concrete projects.

Several themes are on the agenda: History and memories, youth, mobility, economic and scientific partnership... Elisabeth Borne will speak about it directly with the Algerian Prime Minister.

She will also participate in the High Level Intergovernmental Committee, a kind of Franco-Algerian Council of Ministers.

A meeting that has not been convened since December 2017 because of tensions between Paris and Algiers and the Covid-19 epidemic.

On this occasion, several agreements should be signed in economic matters, education or energy transition.

Officially, as last August, the subject of Algerian gas is not on the menu of discussions.

But it will obviously be on everyone's mind, as will the sensitive issue of visas.
