The National Security Office of the Presidential Office immediately reported the matter to President Yun Seok-yeol when North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea at dawn on the 9th, and opened the NSC Standing Committee.

The NSC Standing Committee, chaired by National Security Office Director Kim Seong-han, received a report on the situation from the Joint Chiefs of Staff and strongly condemned North Korea's successive missile launches as a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions and escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula and in the region.

In addition, at the recent general meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization, a resolution reaffirming that North Korea's missile launch was in violation of UN Security Council resolutions was adopted, urging North Korea to comply with international norms.

In particular, he repeatedly warned that North Korea's continued provocations could intensify international isolation, sanctions against North Korea, and the destruction of people's livelihoods, making the system even more unstable.

The NSC Standing Committee confirmed the thorough readiness posture of our military and decided to further strengthen the combined defense posture and deterrence against North Korea through the ROK-US joint exercise including the deployment of US strategic assets and security cooperation between the US and Japan.

Today's meeting was attended by Director Kim, Jin Park of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Young-se Kwon of the Ministry of Unification, Jong-seop Lee of the Ministry of National Defense, Kyu-hyeon of the National Intelligence Service, Tae-hyo Kim, Director of the NSC, and Jong-deuk Lim, 2nd Deputy Director of the National Security Office.
