In November 2016, Putin signed a decree granting Russian citizenship to American actor and producer Steven Seagal.

Immediately after obtaining Russian citizenship, Ukraine issued a decision banning the American representative from entering its territory.

On the fourth of this October, the American magazine "Newsweek" revealed that the Russian authorities had given Seagal a plot of land - in an upscale area near the capital, Moscow - that was previously designated for projects to care for children with cancer.
