[Explanation] In October, the autumn wind was blowing in Lijiang, Yunnan, which is located on the western Yunnan plateau.
Every night, Zhang Guimei, the principal of Lijiang Huaping Girls' Senior High School, insists on visiting every class.
[Explanation] In 1996, Zhang Guimei took the initiative to apply to teach in remote Huaping County.
She saw the thirst for knowledge of mountain children, and found that many mountain girls dropped out of school because of poverty.
Since then, Zhang Guimei has had a dream - to establish a free girls' high school and use education to block the intergenerational transmission of poverty.
[Explanation] In 2007, at the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Zhang Guimei bravely expressed her dream as a party representative.
The following year, with the support of party committees at all levels, the government and all sectors of society, the country's first public free girls' high school - Lijiang Huaping Girls' Senior High School (referred to as "Huaping Girls' High School") was officially established.
Although the school has been built, various difficulties still exist.

One year after the building is the most difficult, because one is the teachers, the other is the environment, the conditions are too poor, and the other is the poor foundation of the students.
So the phenomenon of resignation frequently occurs. The teacher quits the job and walks away, and the next day, the teacher walks away crying. It's like this.
In the end, there were only 6 party members left, and as a result, the 6 party members propped up the school, and more and more people came.
[Explanation] After thinking, Zhang Guimei put forward the educational concept of "Party building leads teaching, revolutionary tradition establishes schools, and red culture educates people".
Since then, she has led teachers and students to sing red songs, recall red history, and model red classrooms... At Huaping Girls' High School, students' schedules are controlled within minutes, and their study time is maximized.

Where does this power, the power of the child and the power of the teacher come from?
Only then did we realize that it was the power that faith gave us that brought us together, the hearts of children and teachers, and the goals of struggle.
So we said, you will be great, the teachers will be great, and we will persevere.
[Explanation] Every morning at 5 o'clock, Zhang Guimei will use a small loudspeaker to "roar" the students to get up. In the middle of the night, after accompanying the students in their self-study, she will fall asleep.
For more than ten years, she has insisted on sending more than 2,000 girls from the mountains to universities across the country in her own way.
[Explanation] Most of the students of Huaping Girls' High School still have excellent grades after entering the university. Many students have chosen positions such as people's police, medical care, and teachers after graduation, and contribute to the construction of the motherland in their own way.

This group of children went really well. Our first 96 children went out as they wished.
Power is the power given by faith. Everyone knows what I read for, who I read for, and what I do when I go out.
[Explanation] In recent years, Zhang Guimei has won the honorary title of "National Poverty Alleviation Model", "July 1 Medal", "National Moral Model" and other honors.
But Zhang Guimei believes that these honors do not belong to her alone, but to all party members and the masses who have contributed together.
In 2022, Zhang Guimei will be re-elected to the Party's 20th National Congress.

As long as I can move, I am still willing to go and listen to the voice of the Party Central Committee so close.

[Explanation] Over the years, Zhang Guimei has insisted on selfless dedication, like a beam of hope, illuminating the dream-chasing life of children in the mountains.
