In the student city of Uppsala, there are many who now have to tighten their belts when inflation rises and food prices increase.

The price increases for many basic goods such as milk, eggs, fruit and fish have been large, and according to Statistics Norway, you have to go back to the 1980s to see as large price increases for those goods as in 2022.

Looking for additional rates

Economics student Elyse Le Roy and her friends look for flyers with extra prices and walk three kilometers to buy food, when the nearest grocery store has become far too expensive.

- Then I try to stick to one lunch box a day and stock up on sandwiches.

I also drink coffee at home now, but it works, says Elyse Le Roy and continues:

- I am very grateful that I was able to work in the summer this summer.

Without that money, I don't really know what I would fall back on.

I am also lucky that I got an apartment in a student corridor and pay student rent.

I know many others who are not so lucky.
