China News Agency, Moscow, October 7 (Reporter Tian Bing) Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries on the 7th that he will strengthen the further development of trade and investment partnerships within the CIS.

According to the Kremlin website on the 7th, the informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries was held in St. Petersburg on the same day.

Putin and Azerbaijani President Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan, Belarusian President Lukashenko, Kazakhstan President Tokayev, Tajikistan President Rahmon, Turkmen President Shcherdar Berdymukhame Dov and Uzbekistan President Mirziyoyev attended the meeting.

Putin said at the meeting that the meeting provided an opportunity to "match the table" ahead of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan next week.

At that time, Kazakhstan will raise a series of important issues in the fields of politics, economy and humanities, and a batch of joint documents will be signed.

Putin said that during this meeting and the Astana summit, we will pay the greatest attention to the further development of intra-CIS trade and investment partnerships, discuss how to activate joint work to improve the economic stability of the countries, especially by strengthening Bilateral and multilateral cooperation to ensure technological sovereignty.

Putin stressed that economic cooperation between the CIS countries is continuously expanding.

Russia's trade with the CIS countries rose by more than 30 percent last year to $96 billion, and it rose by another 7 percent in the first half of this year.

This positive development will promote the transition of mutual settlement among the CIS countries to their own currencies, which will help strengthen the financial sovereignty of each country, develop internal capital markets and deepen regional economic integration.

Putin also pointed out that there are still some problems in the CIS space, including security and so on. In addition to the Ukraine issue, conflicts between some neighboring countries in the post-Soviet space also occur from time to time, and measures need to be formulated to solve them.

At the same time, it is also important for countries to exchange views with each other in order to promote cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism, transnational crime, drug trafficking, and in the fight against corruption.
