Minister Kim Hyun-sook of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, whose policy is to be abolished in this government reorganization plan, stood in front of the media today (7th).

[Hyun-sook Kim / Minister of Gender Equality and Family: I think that if the Gender Equality Headquarters system is in place, it will be able to deliver results.

I have no regrets in particular.]

Although the Minister of Leisure said this, she has voiced concerns about a policy vacuum, especially among women's groups, and is also foretelling collective action.

Whether or not this government reorganization plan will pass as it is will eventually be decided by the National Assembly, but a subtle atmosphere can be read from the majority of the Democratic Party seats.

A bill to amend the Government Organization Act was proposed to the National Assembly, including the abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the promotion of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the establishment of the Office of Overseas Koreans.

All 115 lawmakers belonging to the People's Power have signed the amendment bill.

During the presidential election, President Yoon Seok-yeol, who made a promise to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, also gave strength.

[President Seok-Yeol Yoon: The abolition of the Ministry of Leisure is to further strengthen the protection of women, then their families, children, and the socially disadvantaged.]

The people's power requested the Democratic Party to cooperate with the bill.

[Ho-young Joo/People’s Power Floor Leader: The government has come up with a proposal that the government can work most efficiently, so I am requesting (to the Democratic Party) to help and support as much as possible.]

The Democratic Party, holding the key to passing the amendment with 169 seats, appears to be in trouble.

Since the last presidential election, criticizing the promise of abolition of the Ministry of Leisure, there is strong opposition within the party, but the leadership has not yet issued an official position.

[Park Hong-geun / Democratic Party floor leader: (You know the government organization law. What do you think of that (the power of the people) party argument?) I have already conveyed that to the government.] A

key Democratic Party official said, “The government and the ruling party are at this point .

I think the fact that he brought out the 'Abolition of the Leisure Ministry' card had a political intention."

It is believed that the ruling party, which has fallen into a low 20% level of support for state management, is trying to change the situation by gathering supporters by dividing men and women.

In addition, there is an aspect that the front line may be disturbed if we cling to the issue of leisure during the regular parliamentary session to highlight the situation of the Yun Seok-yeol government.

The struggle of the Democratic Party has begun between the demands of the supporters and the struggle for lending.
