During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, two freight trains collided during a maneuver at the Saint-Jory marshalling yard, north of Toulouse.

If no leak was recorded during the incident between the two wagons, one of them contains liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), a hazardous material.

After the immediate securing, the authorities will proceed on Sunday to the separation of the two wagons, thanks to a railway crane.

An operation that requires the evacuation of part of the town of Lespinasse and a street in Saint-Alban.

If this manipulation “presents a limited risk” according to the prefecture of Haute-Garonne, the establishment of an exclusion perimeter is however necessary throughout the duration of the operation.

In fact, all residents residing in the area concerned must have left their homes from 9 a.m. until the end of the operation, scheduled for midday.

And all traffic will also be prohibited in the area.

In the meantime, municipal reception areas will be open to welcome those concerned, from 8:30 a.m.: the Gagnac-sur-Garonne village hall, the Bruguières sports complex and the Yves-Montand hall in Saint-Alban.

For those with medical problems or with reduced mobility, a hotline is open on 06 08 89 33 21. An information meeting for the population is organized this evening in Lespinasse to detail the measures taken in the context of this evacuation of exceptional magnitude.
