The "Italian Award", which is given to the world's best TV programs, was announced, and the NHK website, which reports on the situation in Myanmar, where the military continues to oppress citizens, was selected as a special prize.

Organized by the Italian public broadcaster "RAI", the "Prize Italia" is one of the most prestigious international competitions in the world that has been held since 1948 and selects excellent television, radio and web works.

In the 74th year, a total of 321 works were judged in 9 categories, and the award ceremony was held in Bari, Italy in the early hours of the 8th, Japan time.

In the web category, NHK's website "What's Happening in Myanmar? What's Happening in Myanmar?" was selected as the Student Jury's Special Award.

This website was launched in April last year in conjunction with NHK's program, and NHK independently provides videos shot in Myanmar to clarify the actual situation of oppression against civilians by the military. We collect information by calling out to the public, organize it in chronological order, and publish it.

Regarding the reason for selection, "RAI" is a powerful work that cuts sharply into important social concerns and shows the potential of technology. Our efforts represent a milestone in public service."
