Newsweek columnist Josh Hammer explains why Zelensky makes him sick

“Vladimir Zelensky makes me sick,” the columnist wrote.

In the article, Hammer notes that the "Manichaean position" of the United States on the conflict in Ukraine lies in "Ukrainian maximalism", according to which "Putin is evil, and Vladimir Zelensky is noble."

This, the journalist believes, is followed by a "big logical leap", which is that the United States will support Ukraine in confronting "an adversary with nuclear weapons, no matter what the cost for American taxpayers."

According to Hammer, the U.S. is promising Zelensky to help fight the war to bring "every square inch of historically contested and ethnically mixed territory" back under Kyiv's control, whatever the people living there want.

In July, former State Secretary of the German Ministry of Defense Willy Wimmer, in his NachDenkSeiten column entitled "Zelensky losing his mind", criticized the Ukrainian president for "spouting" at the NATO summit instead of efforts to make peace in Ukraine that "The clouds are gathering."
