The People's Strength Ethics Committee has decided to suspend former party member Lee Jun-seok with an additional one-year disciplinary action.

Following the dismissal of the court's application for injunction, a political blow was added to Lee, but the Ethics Committee left a narrow door open for running in the power of the people during the 2024 general election.

The period of suspension of party membership for former Chairman Lee Jun-seok has been extended by one more year from six months to January 2024.

Former CEO Lee did not reveal any position, but the person who met former CEO Lee yesterday (6th) expressed his intentions, saying, "I will organize my thoughts over the weekend."



On the other hand, former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min protested, saying, "If sheep-headed meat is a reason for disciplinary action, why won't Party member Yoon Seok-yeol, who spoke outrageously, not discipline him?"



The variable is the possibility of nomination for the National Assembly general election to be held in April 2024.



According to the People's Power Party rule, it is a principle to complete the nomination of candidates for the National Assembly no later than 45 days before the election day, that is, by the end of February.



The recommendation target is a member of the responsible party who has paid party fees for more than three months up to that point, so the former president is not eligible for the time being, however, qualifications can be granted by the resolution of the Supreme Council.

A key official of the People's Power also evaluated, "There is a political consideration," saying, "There remains a problem of 'care' for former President Lee rather than cutting it off."



Ultimately, the political revival of former leader Lee by returning to the general election is likely to fluctuate depending on the next party leader who will win the nomination rights.
