The total weight of the seizures amounts to 1.2 tons of cocaine, a “record” according to the General Directorate of Customs which publishes this Friday the good summer results of Marseille customs officers.

They result from three cases qualified as exceptional, and which have in common removal containers from Martinique and landed in the port of Marseille.

“The opening of each of the containers and the marking of the anti-narcotic dogs enabled the officers to discover each time a large quantity of cocaine concealed in the false bottoms of furniture (sofas, seats, armchairs, speakers, trunks , etc.).

A new targeting network

On July 12, 2022, 606 kg of cocaine were discovered.

“This seizure is historic, because it is the largest seizure of cocaine in the history of Marseille customs”, still welcomes the General Directorate of Customs.

On July 20, 71 kg of cocaine are discovered, while 527 kg will be found on August 9.

In addition to these three seizures, there are also 514 kg of cocaine already seized at the start of the year in the western basin of the port.

These cases are part of the establishment of a new targeting network dedicated to the maritime vector within the Marseille customs services.
