China News Agency, Beijing, October 7th. The spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs answered a reporter's question on October 6 on China's defeat of the draft decision on Xinjiang at the UN Human Rights Council.

The spokesperson said that facts have repeatedly proved that the politicization and double standards of human rights issues are unpopular, and the attempt to suppress and contain China by using Xinjiang-related issues will not succeed.

A reporter asked a question. On October 6, the 51st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council voted on a draft decision on Xinjiang-related issues led by the United States, which ended in failure.

What is China's comment?

The spokesperson said that for some time, the United States and some Western countries have repeatedly used Xinjiang-related issues to spread rumors and engage in political manipulation in the name of human rights, in an attempt to smear China's image and curb China's development.

Ignoring the truth, they spread falsehoods and lies about Xinjiang in the Human Rights Council, concocted a so-called draft decision, and attempted to use the UN human rights body to interfere in China's internal affairs and advance their plan of "using Xinjiang to control China".

The eyes of the international community are sharp.

Although the United States and some Western countries tried their best to put pressure on other member states, the draft decision was still strongly opposed by most members of the Human Rights Council, especially the developing members. The attempt of the United States and other Western countries failed again.

The spokesperson pointed out that Xinjiang-related issues are not human rights issues at all, but issues of counter-terrorism, de-radicalization and anti-separatism.

After arduous efforts, Xinjiang has been free from violent terrorist incidents for more than five consecutive years, and the human rights of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang have been protected to the greatest extent possible.

The international community is well aware of the sinister plans of the United States and other Western countries to "use Xinjiang to control China", and detest their despicable tactics to interfere in other countries' internal affairs under the pretext of human rights.

In recent years, nearly 100 countries, including the vast majority of Islamic countries, have publicly spoken out on the Human Rights Council, the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly and other occasions, supporting China's legitimate position on Xinjiang-related issues and opposing interference in China's internal affairs through Xinjiang-related issues.

Facts have proven time and again that the politicization of human rights issues and double standards are unpopular, and the attempt to suppress and contain China through Xinjiang-related issues will not succeed.

The spokesperson emphasized that what the Human Rights Council should really pay attention to and discuss are the serious human rights violations in the United States, the United Kingdom and other Western countries, including systemic racism and racial discrimination, violations of refugee and immigrant rights, widespread gun violence, indiscriminate unilateral coercive measures, Overseas military operations have caused a large number of innocent casualties, etc., and the vast number of victims will be treated with justice and an explanation to the international community.

We advise the United States and other Western countries to give up political manipulation, slander and unreasonable suppression, return to the track of dialogue and cooperation, and do something real for the development of the international human rights cause.
