In mid-August, a judicial investigation had been opened for the heads of "unauthorized acquisition, possession, offer or transfer of war material, weapon, ammunition (…) in a meeting and participation in a criminal association", corresponding to acts committed in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in 2022.

At the end of the investigation carried out by the Brigade for the repression of banditry (BRB) of the judicial police, nine people had been placed in police custody at the beginning of the week.

Twenty weapons "including two grenades, a submachine gun, two assault rifles, a shotgun, several handguns" and ammunition were seized in the towns of Marignane, in the 12th and 13th arrondissements of Marseille and in three other communes of the department.
