An armed Lebanese man storms a bank and takes hostages to get his deposit

Yesterday, a gunman stormed a bank in southern Lebanon and took hostages to get his deposit.

According to the National News Agency, the “Mediterranean Bank” in Nabatiyeh witnessed an armed raid by a person from the city of Nabatiyeh, where he detained the employees, demanding his deposit of approximately $150,000.

According to the agency, the vicinity of the bank witnessed a security presence of various devices.

It is noteworthy that banks in Lebanon imposed restrictions on withdrawals and financial transfers as of the beginning of 2020, due to the financial crisis and prevented depositors from obtaining their savings.

The phenomenon of bank storming by a number of depositors was repeated during the month of September, where they detained employees and demanded their deposits, and they obtained some of them.

Banks closed their doors for a week, denouncing and denouncing what had happened, and took measures to prevent a recurrence of the phenomenon.
