The Alvaro-Foultier family has found its window.

That of the house known as "La Synagogue" in Herisson (Allier), which she inherited in December 2020. Sold to an American pastor almost 100 years ago, it is now in the United States, in a museum near Philadelphia, reports

La Montagne

on Wednesday .

When they took possession of the 14th century residence, the family noticed that a window on the first floor had been replaced by a simple model in brick.

After research, she learned that the window had been sent to an antique dealer in Paris, in 1927. A year later, the piece was sold to the son of a very wealthy American industrial family.

Become a chimney surround

This man, a pastor, built up a rich collection of Romanesque and Gothic antiquities.

So many pieces visible in the Glencairn museum, near Philadelphia.

It was there that the Alvaro-Foultiers found the window.

It is currently used as a fireplace surround in a chapel.

It will stay in the United States but the idea is now to reproduce it identically in "The Synagogue".
