In Coop's store in Taberg, south of Jönköping, store manager Frida Gulass says that cheating with the self-scanning has become more common, that you simply don't scan all the goods that you then carry out of the store.

- We must have better control.

The risk is that this will increase when inflation increases, says Frida Gulass.

SVT has called around 30 traders in Jönköping County.

Some say they have not noticed any increase in, for example, shoplifting and theft, while others say it is a growing problem.

Picks up some items

The Swedish Trade Index, which summarizes the stores' vulnerability to crime, increases by five percentage points compared to the previous quarter and lands at 46 percent.

- The trend is as worrying as it is clear - far too many traders are exposed on a continuous basis to theft, threats and fraud attempts.

Now we see that thefts are increasing again and many traders testify that they are reviewing their assortment.

It is simply not possible to keep certain goods in store, says Nina Jelver, Acting Head of Security at Swedish Trade.
