The UAE and Russia affirm the distinction of their bilateral relations as being strategic

The Speaker of the Federal National Council, Saqr Ghobash, discussed, during his meeting with the President of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, on the sidelines of the eighth summit meetings of the Speakers of Parliaments of the Group of Twenty, held in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, ways to enhance the existing relations of cooperation between the two friendly countries, especially the parliamentary ones, in line with the The support these relations enjoy from the leadership and governments of the two countries.

The meeting was attended by the UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, and a delegation of the Federal National Council, which included the Chairman of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee, Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Council Aisha Reda Al-Bairaq, Secretary General of the Council Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, and Assistant Secretary General for Council Presidency Affairs Tariq Ahmed Al Marzouki.

During the meeting, the two sides stressed the distinction of bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Russian Federation, as they are strategic relations based on a spirit of understanding, mutual respect and a common desire to develop and advance them in all areas that serve the two friendly countries.

The meeting dealt with the distinguished parliamentary relations linking the Federal National Council and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, as the two sides expressed their aspiration to strengthen them in light of the presence of the Emirati-Russian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, and a cooperation agreement signed between them.

The meeting touched on the importance of mutual visits between the two sides, in addition to the meetings held on the sidelines of international conferences over the past years, and the resulting development in the relationship between the two councils.

The two sides noted the role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting countries' directions and enhancing international peace and security, as the role of the Inter-Parliamentary Union working group on a peaceful solution to the Ukraine crisis headed by Dr. Ali Rashid Al-Nuaimi was commended.

Saqr Ghobash stressed the importance of strengthening and continuity of communication, coordination and strategic parliamentary dialogue between the two sides, and unifying positions, visions and orientations on various issues of common interest in various regional and international parliamentary forums, especially in the Inter-Parliamentary Union, with the importance of exchanging experiences, knowledge and parliamentary practices.

In turn, Valentina Matvienko stressed the importance of parliamentary relations keeping pace with the strategic partnership relations between the two countries, and the development they are witnessing at various economic, commercial, cultural, energy and technology levels, as the UAE is one of the most important Arab countries in Russian trade and the first Arab destination for Russian investments, and on the other hand, the UAE It is the largest Arab investor in Russia, and is characterized by a high rate of mutual tourism between the citizens of the two countries.
