The European Union imposed sanctions against the Russian CEC

According to data cited in the official journal of the EU, the Russian CEC is responsible for organizing referendums in the Donbass republics, as well as in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.

On September 30, Russian leader Vladimir Putin and the heads of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions signed agreements on the accession of these regions to Russia.

On October 6, the European Union approved the eighth package of sanctions against Russia, including a ceiling on oil prices.
