The
Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Congress
has approved a non-law proposal in which it condemns the self-determination referendums organized by
Russia
in four provinces of
Ukraine
as well as the human rights violations perpetrated by Russian troops in that country, an initiative before which United We Can and Bildu have abstained.
The text promoted by the PP and amended by the PSOE has gone ahead with the support of the rest of the formations present in the commission:
popular
, socialists, Vox and PNV.
In the non-law proposal, the Spanish Government is also urged to support the Ukrainian Government both in its political needs, especially with regard to its process of accession to the European Union, and with regard to the armament that it requests from Spain in coordination with EU and NATO partners and allies.
The Congress also summons the Executive to take part in the projects for the reconstruction of Ukraine at a bilateral level and to continue reinforcing Spain's bond with NATO and with the United States, in line with what was agreed at the
Madrid Summit
.
In the same session, another non-law proposal was approved, signed by the PSOE, for Spain to continue promoting its commitment to NATO, to urge the Atlantic Alliance to promote the so-called
South Agenda
, as well as its coordination and cooperation with the European Union, in accordance with what was adopted in the
Strategic Concept of Madrid
.
United We Can and Bildu have also abstained on this point.
Finally, the Foreign Affairs Committee has approved, with the vote of all the formations present, except for Vox, which has voted against, another PSOE initiative that mandates the Government to "promote strategies and projects, in accordance with the
Master Plan of the Spanish Cooperation
that deals especially with women and girls, especially in the field of access to health care, sexual and reproductive health, and in the prevention of gender violence, highlighting areas under armed conflict".
