A Swedish protest movement that gathers thousands of Swedes has started on social media.

The movement protests against the Iranian regime's violence against the country's women.

On Thursday, some of the initiators submitted a list of demands to the Swedish government including 15,000 signatures.

Among other things, they want Sweden to introduce targeted sanctions against key people in the Iranian leadership.

SVT has asked Foreign Minister Ann Linde (S) in what way Sweden can support the protests in Iran.

In a written comment to SVT, Ann Linde says, among other things, that she raised the issue with Iran's foreign minister in September and that the EU's foreign ministers will meet on October 17 to discuss more measures against Iran:

"The government is positive about further restrictive measures from the EU in the form of listings of individuals and bodies, but it must of course be anchored in the EU committee before the meeting of foreign ministers."
