A man was in serious condition after shooting himself in the head in Saint-Baldoph (Savoie) on Wednesday afternoon.

The tragedy took place when around twenty gendarmes from Challes-les-Eaux and Chambéry intervened at the home of this sixty-year-old;

Entrenched with a weapon

The soldiers had been alerted by his family.

The man had sent messages in which he shared his suicidal thoughts.

Dispatched to the scene, the gendarmes tried to get in touch with him.

In vain he had entrenched himself.

As they walked around the property, the soldiers heard a detonation.

In his shed, the man had just shot himself in the head.

He was taken care of by the firefighters and the Samu, before being airlifted to Annecy hospital.
