Affected by the crisis in Ukraine, this is the first time the embassy has reopened in seven months since it was closed in March.

  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that at present only a minimum number of personnel are retained to collect information and communicate with countries such as Ukraine.

Consular matters are still handled by the embassy in Warsaw, Poland.

  The report also said that Japan was the last country in the Group of Seven (G7) to reopen its embassy in Kyiv.
