A government ministerial meeting was held to expand exports of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products and food products by taking advantage of the weaker yen. did.

The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's official residence and was attended by relevant ministers, including Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Nomura.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and food from January to August this year reached 882.6 billion yen against the backdrop of the weak yen and the recovery of demand for eating out mainly in Europe and the United States, compared to the same period last year. That's an increase of over 14%.

At the meeting on the 5th, we confirmed our policy to take full advantage of the expansion of foreign demand due to the weaker yen and strengthen our efforts to achieve the target of 2 trillion yen in exports by 2025 ahead of schedule.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) announced in the government's new comprehensive economic measures to be compiled this month that there is concern that there will be shortages of products in some regions due to the expansion of exports due to the depreciation of the yen. We are planning to incorporate specific measures such as maintenance.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno, who heads the conference, said, "The export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and food products is trending steadily, and now that export potential is expanding due to the weaker yen, we need to maximize our earning power. I would like each ministry to work together to develop a system to support exports both at home and abroad."
