In response to North Korea's provocation of an intermediate-range ballistic missile, the US Navy's Ronald Reagan carrier strike team re-entered the East Sea today (5th), and it has been confirmed that tomorrow, South Korea, US, and Japan missile tracking and intercepting exercises led by the Reagan carrier will be held in the East Sea.

A key official from the Ministry of National Defense told SBS today, "Tomorrow, our Navy and Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force ships will rejoin the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Team." said.

This is the first time that South Korea, US and Japanese ships have conducted joint exercises in the East Sea for two weeks in a row.

It is unprecedented for a US Navy carrier to enter the East Sea for two weeks in a row.

An official from the Ministry of National Defense gave meaning to the re-entry of the Reagan carrier and the South Korea-U.S.-Japan joint exercise as "a physical message that the ROK-U.S. alliance and security cooperation between the US and Japan will be strengthened if North Korea provokes."
