President Yoon said in his speech on the way to the Yongsan presidential office today, "As you may have seen in the report this morning, North Korea fired a medium-to-long-range missile with a range of about 4,000 km over the Japanese archipelago."



It is noteworthy because it reaffirmed the principle of resolute response to North Korea's provocations and at the same time mentioned the missile's range.



Military authorities are analyzing specifications such as range, altitude, and speed.



In this regard, the Presidential Office held a National Security Council meeting (NSC) presided over by Kim Seong-han, head of the National Security Office from 9 am to discuss countermeasures.



President Yoon said, "I plan to attend midway through the NSC."



Earlier, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said that it had detected a medium-range ballistic missile (IRBM) that was launched from the area of ​​Mupyong-ri, Jagang Province, North Korea around 7:23 a.m. today and passed over Japan to the east.



Japanese authorities also confirmed that the missile had crossed the Japanese archipelago and landed in the Pacific Ocean.
