Writers and media professionals emphasized that the changes that have occurred in Arab society during the past years for various reasons, and in light of the digital revolution and the rule of the Internet era and the increasing influence of social media platforms with the decline of traditional media, that there is an urgent need for the continuous development of the media language in the media in its various forms in order to be able to reach the The broad base of the Arab public, which is represented by young people who make up more than 50% of this society, stressing the importance of keeping pace with the times and blending sobriety and the attractiveness of language within governing controls and standards. This came during the discussion session entitled "The Future of the Arab Pen", which was held during the first day of the Arab Media Forum, which celebrates its 20th anniversary.

The session was attended by the Iraqi writer Dr. Rashid Al-Khayoun, the Emirati writer Nasser Al-Dhaheri, and the Egyptian writer and media figure Amina Khairy.

Amina Khairy said that with the age of the Internet and its various effects, there are different definitions, there is an elite for traditional media and an elite for social media from influencers and so on, noting that well-known Arab pens that can be classified as opinion makers and guides are over 40 years old, and their readers are The oldest, while the social media elite are the youngest and most numerous in the Arab community, where many can be stars of this “media” style, which has brought about many transformations in the media elite industry.

She said that despite the increasing influence of social media, the picture is not bleak for traditional journalism, which is currently in the process of trying to survive.

Amina Khairy stressed that the UAE, with its clear vision, is currently a center for the new digital media that has ethics, and this is what society wants, especially since more than 50% of it is from the youth group who are coming to social communication patterns and its fast language.

The Iraqi writer, Dr. Rashid Al-Khayoun, said that the pen continues to have an impact, and from here it must be improved and developed to keep pace with developments. He added: “In every time, there is an intellectual and a writer who has influence, whatever his means of expression and writing, whether by pen or (key board).” He stressed that writing is a craft that has ethical and professional principles and controls within governing standards.

For his part, Emirati writer Nasser Al Dhaheri believes that the political and economic factors in many Arab countries have changed the pyramid, as the thinker, the writer, and the owner of the sober pen no longer have the greatest influence. Al Dhaheri called for investing in the Arab Media Forum and its large crowd of media professionals, writers and thinkers to draft and draft a "moral code of honor for digital media", with standards and controls that save it from the current chaos.
