In his car registered in Spain, the customs dog quickly sniffed the spare wheel.

This, deflated, contained two loaves of cocaine weighing 2.335 kg.

18 months in prison

The man explained that he had to go to Basel (Switzerland) to deliver his package.

Investigators also discovered that he had made a similar trip on September 8.

In court, the 50-year-old expressed his financial problems, which would have pushed him to accept this delivery mission.

No information on the sponsors of the operation has been revealed.

The defendant was finally sentenced to 18 months in prison with a warrant of committal and a ban on French territory for 5 years.

The car was confiscated and the man will have to pay a customs fine of 93,400 euros.
