Six women, close to the Merah family, were arrested on Tuesday by investigators from the counter-terrorism sub-directorate of the judicial police.

According to information from Europe 1, confirmed to

20 Minutes

by a source familiar with the matter, the investigators suspect them of having traveled to Syria several times.

These people gravitate in the “entourage” of the terrorist, who killed seven people, including three children, in March 2012, and his brother, Abdelkader Merah, sentenced in April 2020 to thirty years in prison for complicity.

They were arrested during a large net in Toulouse and Albi.

One of them came to the police station in the morning.

Stays in Syria

Also according to Europe 1, the suspects had already been placed in police custody.

At the time, they vigorously contested having stayed in Syria.

But new elements suggest the opposite to the investigators, who placed them in police custody.

Their hearings can last up to 96 hours.
