The Presidential Office held a National Security Council (NSC) Standing Committee presided over by Kim Seong-han, Director of the National Security Office, in relation to North Korea's mid-range ballistic missile launch on the morning of the 4th.



President Yoon Seok-yeol was present during the meeting to receive a report on the situation and to check the response plan, the presidential office said.



Standing members of the NSC condemned North Korea's launch of an intermediate-range ballistic missile as a serious provocation that threatened international peace, including the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, as a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions.



They also made it clear that the continued provocations from North Korea cannot be tolerated and there is a price to be paid.



President Yoon pointed out that this provocation by North Korea clearly violated the universal principles and norms of the United Nations, and ordered that we take a stern response and take corresponding measures in cooperation with the United States and the international community.



Today's meeting was attended by Chief of Staff Kim, President Kim Dae-ki, Foreign Minister Park Jin, Defense Minister Lee Jong-seop, National Intelligence Service Director Kim Kyu-hyeon, Deputy Minister of Unification Kim Ki-woong, National Security Office First Deputy Director Kim Tae-hyo and NSC Secretary General Kim Tae-hyo, and National Security Office Second Deputy Director Lim Jong-deuk in attendance.



Earlier, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that it had detected a medium-range ballistic missile (IRBM) that was launched from the area of ​​Mupyong-ri, Jagang Province, North Korea around 7:23 a.m. today and passed over Japan.
