On October 3, local time, U.S. President Biden visited Puerto Rico, an overseas territory of the United States, and discussed with local officials related assistance measures to help the local government respond to Hurricane Fiona.

Biden made a public speech that day, saying that he would meet the request of Puerto Rico Governor Pedro Perluisi, extend Puerto Rico's disaster declaration, cover the cost of cleaning up the wreckage, and provide other federal assistance.

He also announced that Puerto Rico will receive $60 million in federal funding from a bipartisan infrastructure bill passed last week.
