On October 3, local time, according to official news from Ecuador, a riot broke out in a prison in Cotopaxi province, resulting in at least 15 deaths and 20 injuries.
After the riots, the Ecuadorian armed forces have been stationed and the situation is basically under control. The local institutions have also sent a medical team to the prison to provide necessary medical first aid.
Residents near the prison said they heard gunshots coming from the prison during the riot.
