This is not the first case of autochthonous dengue fever detected this year in the Occitanie region.

There was one a month ago, in Plaisance-du-Touch, and more recently near Montauban.

This time, the health authorities have received the report of a new confirmed case in Toulouse, in the Amidonniers district.

The second case concerns a person living in the same household as the first.

None of them had traveled to a country in the tropics.

Unlike so-called imported cases.

But it is often through these latter infected people that it is transmitted via the bites of tiger mosquitoes.

“The disease can then manifest itself in the person who has been bitten, on average within 4 to 7 days after the infectious bite”, indicates the regional health agency, which will carry out a mosquito control operation in the district concerned, in night from Tuesday to Wednesday.

A door-to-door health survey in the neighborhood will also be conducted on Wednesday, during which information will be provided on the symptoms allowing an infection to be detected: a high fever that suddenly appeared, headaches, muscle, joint or lumbar.
