The Islamic Jihad Movement and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine revealed - on Monday evening - that they had received an invitation from Algeria to participate in the Palestinian reconciliation dialogues, while the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) confirmed that it was dealing "seriously and positively" with Algerian efforts to achieve national reconciliation.

Islamic Jihad spokesman Daoud Shehab said - in a statement to Anatolia - that the movement received on Monday an invitation to participate in reconciliation dialogues in Algeria.

He welcomed Algeria's efforts to achieve Palestinian reconciliation, adding that it is a large and influential country with a historical, effective and distinguished role.

According to Chehab, the movement's delegation to the Algeria Dialogue will be headed by the head of its political department, Mohamed El Hindi.

The official of the National Relations Office in the Popular Front, Maher Mezher, said - in a statement - that the front had received an Algerian invitation for a comprehensive national dialogue on October 10.

The Front's statement did not provide further details.

The "seriousness" of Hamas

Earlier on Monday, Hamas said it was taking seriously and positively Algerian efforts to achieve Palestinian national reconciliation.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said - in statements to Anadolu Agency - that Hamas is taking very seriously and clearly positive the Algerian effort regarding Palestinian reconciliation, and is really concerned with its success.

Qassem added that his movement dealt very positively with all the stations of reconciliation.

He continued, "Algerian President Abdel Majid Tabun's sponsorship of these dialogues gives them strength and importance, and the movement appreciates the Algerian effort and is making a continuous effort to make it a success."

He pointed out that the Hamas movement presented an integrated vision for Algeria to achieve real national unity, to reach consensus on a comprehensive formula for all parties.

As part of efforts to achieve reconciliation, a delegation from the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah), headed by Mahmoud Al-Aloul, its vice president, arrived in Algeria on September 19, the day after the arrival of a Hamas delegation headed by its head of its office for Arab and Islamic relations, Khalil al-Hayya.

Algeria is preparing to host an expanded meeting of the Palestinian factions in the first week of October, according to what was previously announced by the Palestinian ambassador to Algeria, Fayez Abu Aita.

On December 6, 2021, Algerian President Abdel Majid Tebboune announced his country's intention to host a conference of the Palestinian factions, and later Algeria received delegations representing the factions.

The Palestinian arena has been suffering from a political and geographical division since the summer of 2007, as Hamas controls the Gaza Strip, while the West Bank is administered by the Palestinian government formed by Fatah led by President Mahmoud Abbas.
