The UAE provides the golden visa, which is a long-term residency, for two periods, five or 10 years, for certain categories of foreigners residing in the UAE, or wishing to come to it, and enables them to live, work, invest and study, without the need for a guarantor or host, while enjoying exclusive benefits.

The categories include investors, entrepreneurs, brilliant talents, scientists and specialists, early students and graduates, humanitarian pioneers, and the first line of defense.

It includes new advantages for holders of golden residency, the most important of which is the abolition of the requirement not to be absent from the state to maintain the golden residency, the abolition of the maximum number of support service workers that can be brought in, and benefits for family members, allowing them to remain in the state for the duration of their stay in the event of the death of the breadwinner who obtained the golden residency .

It also provides the green residence, whether for self-employment or for the investor, and it is a type of new residence visa, and allows its holder to reside in the country for a period of five years, without the need for a guarantor, host or sponsor of an employer, and the residence is renewable upon its expiry.

The new executive regulations for the entry and residence of foreigners created a residence permit for a retired foreigner without a guarantor, for a period of five years, renewable according to the same conditions under which it was granted.

The UAE government has also introduced a virtual work residence permit, the first of its kind in the region, which enables a foreigner to enter the UAE on his personal sponsorship, stay in it for a year, and practice his virtual job, in accordance with the terms and controls issued with the visa.

A "student visa" is also issued to international students coming from abroad to enroll in universities, colleges and institutions of higher education in the UAE, or for students residing in the country on the residence of their parents or relatives, and wishing to continue their studies at various universities and higher institutes.

The new executive regulation for the entry and residence of foreigners in the country also stipulates that a foreigner linked to a work contract with an employer is granted a residence permit to work according to three conditions, first if the recruitment agency is a federal or local public sector entity, and the authority issues a residence permit after submitting the work contract or appointment decision For a foreigner, secondly, if the recruitment agency is subject to a Federal Decree-Law on regulating labor relations, or is in the category of auxiliary service workers, a permit must be obtained from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and thirdly, if the recruitment agency is one of the entities exempted from all provisions of the Federal Decree-Law on regulating relations Work or from the condition of obtaining a work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the authority issues a residence permit after submitting the work contract or appointment decision to the foreigner.

A residence permit is also issued to the foreigner who owns the property without a guarantor or host within conditions.

8 types of visitor visas

The executive regulations of the Law on Entry and Residence of Foreigners specify eight types of temporary visit visas that may be granted to foreigners to enter the country, whether for a single trip or for several trips, and may be extended for a similar period or periods.

Visas are classified according to the purpose of the visit, which are: tourism, visit a relative or friend, work assignment, explore job opportunities, explore business establishment opportunities, treatment, study, training or qualification, and courtesy visa.

These visas are granted by the Federal Authority for Identity, Nationality, Customs and Ports Security, and after the approval of the competent authorities. A visit visa may be issued by the head of the authority or whomever he delegates, for other purposes not mentioned, provided that the seriousness of the purpose of coming to the state is verified.
