The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, said that his government and security forces are not a party to the political conflict, and that their responsibility is to protect the people and defend security and the law, and not to bear the cost of political conflicts and challenges, reiterating his call to expedite the national dialogue.

Al-Kazemi said during a meeting of the Iraqi National Security Ministerial Council: “I say to all the leaders of the national political forces that I bear great pressure for your political conflicts, and I bear the attack by some of you,” stressing that attempts to seize opportunities are against the interests of the country.

He added, according to a statement by the Iraqi government: "I am not a party to the political conflict, and the security forces bear great pressure and are not a party to these conflicts. Their responsibility is to protect the people and defend security and the law, and not bear the costs of political conflicts and challenges."

He continued: «I repeat my call to the political forces to expedite the national dialogue and reach national consensus satisfactory to all parties.

Iraq calls on all of us to sacrifice for it and for the people, and the country needs a stable national government that proceeds with reconstruction projects and services, and enough investment in crises and attempts to weaken the state.

In a related context, Iraqi President Barham Salih and representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Jenin Hennis-Plasschaert, stressed yesterday the importance of getting out of the political crisis through dialogue.

The political party must listen to these demands seriously and perform its national role towards them.”

The security forces had fully tightened control the day before yesterday on Tahrir Square in Baghdad and removed the demonstrators from it and opened roads and restored life and movement in front of the cars, while the demonstrators voluntarily withdrew from Al-Nusour Square, and the Iraqi forces carried out similar security operations to remove the demonstrators from the demonstration squares in the two governorates. According to an Iraqi military statement, 28 people from the security forces and demonstrators were injured during clashes between the two sides against the backdrop of commemorating the third anniversary of the October 2019 demonstrations in Tahrir Square in central Baghdad.

He pointed out that "all the tunnels that were used by the terrorists as a safe haven were blown up."

He revealed the implementation of a series of successful operations in different provinces, which resulted in the arrest of six members of the "ISIS" terrorist organization, one of them in the capital, Baghdad.
