“NATO is not a party to the conflict,” TASS quoted Stoltenberg as saying in an interview with NBC.

He noted that the alliance provides support to Ukraine as a sovereign state that has the right to protection.

The Secretary General added that the support should be "long-term".

Earlier, Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, in an interview with RMF FM radio station, did not rule out the participation of NATO forces in hostilities in Ukraine if nuclear weapons were used there.
