Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno, who is in charge of the abduction issue, visited Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture on the 2nd and inspected the site where Kyoko Matsumoto was abducted 45 years ago with Kyoko's older brother, Meng.

Afterwards, Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno attended a rally calling for the resolution of the abduction issue and said, "I realized that the abduction had actually taken place in this area, and I thought about the feelings of Ms. Meng, who has been waiting for Kyoko's return. I am deeply sorry that since five victims returned to Japan in 2002, not one has been able to return to Japan."

He added, ``The abduction issue is the most important issue for the Kishida Cabinet. We will not miss any opportunities and will continue to work closely with relevant countries, including the United States, to ensure that they can return to Japan as soon as possible."
