• Catalonia The 'trap meeting' with which Artur Mas started the 'procés'

The procés

trial has been held, but several

procés

trials remain

.

They will not be as ostentatious as the one of the Supreme Court, but they will also try to determine the responsibility of 44 investigated in the celebration of the illegal referendum.

A dozen of those responsible for 1-O sat on the bench of the Supreme Court on February 14, 2019, but not all those that the High Court would have wanted were present.

There were seven escapees that over time have been reduced to five.

The first of all, former president Carles Puigdemont, who heads a list of those who are still waiting to go to court and receive a sentence.

As squires in his flight through Europe, Puigdemont still has three

ministers

from that Government at the end of 2017:

Antoni

Comín

,

Clara Ponsat

í

and

Lluís Puig

.

If one day the entanglement of their immunity as parliamentarians is resolved against them and they are handed over to Spain, or if they get tired of waiting and return voluntarily, they will have to sit on the bench.

Two things will await them: sentences equivalent to those that the Supreme dictated in the

procés

and the pardons that arrived shortly after.

flight to switzerland

The former secretary general of the ERC

Marta Rovira

was also on her way to trial in the Supreme Court.

She never made it to the bench or to go to jail.

She fled to Switzerland the day that magistrate

Pablo Llarena

was going to notify her of her trial and her placement in provisional prison.

In case of being judged, she Rovira will have to answer for a crime of sedition, which supposes harsh prison sentences.

Softer are the sentences that could fall to two other escapees who have already returned.

A crime of disobedience, which only carries a penalty of disqualification, awaits the former

minister

and still a deputy

Meritxell Serret

in the

Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia

.

The same crime awaits the former deputy of the CUP

Anna Gabriel

.

She remains to be seen if in the Supreme Court or in the TSJ of Catalonia, due to the apportionment dance.

To the seven mentioned are added another 32 alleged perpetrators of 1-O who never went through the Supreme Court, but were investigated in the investigating court number 13 of Barcelona, a key piece in the investigation of 1-O.

Two of them will have to respond to the TSJ for the appraisal game.

These are the former senior officials of the Department of Economy - that of Oriol Junqueras during the

procés

-

Josep Maria Jové

and

Lluis Salvadó

.

Both are attributed crimes of embezzlement, disobedience and prevarication.

The misuse of public funds can lead to harsh prison sentences.

Jové is the head of ERC in Parliament and is part of the dialogue table with the Government of Pedro Sánchez.

She played a key role in starting the investigation, albeit unintentionally.

In her home, the

Security Forces

found what they considered the

road map

of the

procés

.

Salvadó is Secretary of the Treasury of the Generalitat and deputy in the Parliament for ERC.

Judgment annulled

The other 30 defendants are on their way to the Barcelona Provincial Court.

The list includes the president of the

Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation

(CCMA),

Núria Llorach

, and the directors of TV3,

Vicenç Sanchis

and Catalunya Ràdio,

Saül Gordillo

.

They are accompanied by the former director of the Government delegation to the EU

Amadeu Altafaj

, the former secretary general of the Diplocat

Albert Royo

, and the former comptroller of the Generalitat

Rosa Vidal

.

The resolution that sent them to the bench for embezzlement, disobedience, falsehood, disclosure of secrets and prevarication sounded very similar to the one issued by the Supreme against the members of the Government: "Within their respective spheres of action, following the guidelines set by the different departments of the Generalitat and with the firm intention of holding the referendum towards independence, carried out actions and some issued resolutions with which they made public funds available to finance the referendum".

Along with those already judged and those not judged, there is a category of twice judged.

These are the five electoral trustees of 1-O, who were tried and acquitted of the crimes of usurpation of public functions and disobedience.

Recently, the Barcelona Court annulled that sentence due to its lack of reasoning and ordered a new trial to be held.

One of them,

Tània Verge

, will not sit before a Criminal Court, but before the TSJ of Catalonia because last May she was appointed

Minister

of Equality and she became registered with her.
