American electric car maker Tesla has unveiled for the first time a prototype of a humanoid robot that utilizes the technology cultivated in the development of automatic driving such as AI = artificial intelligence.

In the future, we would like to use it to solve the labor shortage due to population decline.

At an event held at a research and development base in California, USA, on the 30th, Tesla unveiled for the first time a prototype of a humanoid robot that it announced that it would proceed with development last year.

The robot is about 170 centimeters tall and weighs 73 kilograms, and utilizes the semiconductors and AI used in electric vehicles.

On stage, the robot walked autonomously on two legs and waved to the audience at the venue.

A video was also released showing that the robot has joints similar to human hands and feet, and that in the future it will be possible to carry parts in a factory or use a watering can to water plants.

Future sales prices are expected to be less than $20,000.

CEO Elon Musk emphasizes that the supply of cheap robots is ``a fundamental change for civilization,'' and wants to use it to solve the labor shortage associated with the declining population.
