Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country intends to open a factory for the production of the local car "TOGG" in the Gemlik region of the northwestern Bursa state, at the end of this October.

Erdogan added in a speech at the Parliament House in the capital, Ankara, today, Saturday, that with the opening of the local electric car factory on October 29, its serial production will also begin.

The Turkish president went on to talk about the achievements of the AKP governments in the past twenty years, including infrastructure, GDP, exports, and others.

In November 2017, the local car project was launched with the signing of a cooperation protocol to form a joint group for the local car production initiative, with the participation of “Anadolu Group”, “BMC” (BMC), “Koc” Holding, and “Turkcell” Group ), "Zorlu" Holding, and the Federation of Turkish Chambers and Exchanges.

In December 2019, Turkey revealed the birth of the first national car, manufactured with purely local capabilities, that will enter service and run on the country's streets within 3 years.

By July 2020, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan inaugurated a complex that includes the factory that will produce the local car, located in the Gemlik district of Bursa state, in the northwest of the country.
