Demonstrations continued in Iran against the backdrop of the killing of the young woman, Mahsa Amini. Demonstrations took place in several cities, most notably the city of Zahedan in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan. On the other hand, Iranian television said that unidentified armed elements attacked a police headquarters in Zahedan, and the Iranian news agency indicated that 19 people were killed and dozens wounded, including policemen.

Two weeks ago, protests erupted over the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman from the Iranian Kurdistan region, who died after being detained by the "morality police" in Tehran because of her "improper clothes".

Arrest of foreigners and takfiris

In a related context, the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence announced the arrest of dozens and the seizure of quantities of explosive materials against the backdrop of the protests sweeping several cities.

The ministry's statement said that it had arrested 9 foreigners from Germany, Poland, Italy, France, the Netherlands and Sweden in the places of protests inside the country, in addition to the arrest of 49 people it said were linked to the "Mujahedin-e-Khalq" organization.

According to the ministry's statement, the role of the detainees was to spread false news with the aim of mobilizing protesters, carrying out terrorist operations, sabotaging public property and confronting the police forces.

The ministry indicated that it also arrested 5 people belonging to what it described as takfiri terrorist groups, and said that they had in their possession 36 kilograms of explosive materials that they intended to use in the protests. during the protests.


Security official killed

On the other hand, the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported that the commander of the Revolutionary Guards' Intelligence Department in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Colonel Ali Mousavi, was killed during clashes in the city of Zahedan in Sistan and Baluchestan province in the southeast of the country.

The agency indicated that Mousavi was shot in the chest during the clashes that took place between the police and "terrorist" elements and opponents of the Iranian regime near the Makki Mosque in the city of Zahedan. He was taken for treatment and died minutes after arriving at the hospital.

In response to the widespread demonstrations in Iran, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi said that his country would not allow enemies to control Iran.

Raisi commented on the protests by saying that the enemies had miscalculated about Iran for 43 years, and that they believed that Iran was a weak country and could be subdued, as he described it.

He explained that the Iranian people have thwarted the enemies' plans more than once, and that the West should know that the people will stand by the state and the regime in confronting them, he said.
